Slow rate of cooling which is mainly suitable in hardening of low & high alloy of steel grades like tool steels, bearing races, automobile forgings etc.
Medium rate of cooling which is mainly suitable in hardening of Carbon & alloyed Steels like High Tensile Bolts, Screws, nuts, washers etc., Steel bars & Sections, Hand Tools, leaf & Coil Springs, Transmission Gears & shafts etc.
Fast rate of cooling which is mainly suitable in low distortion hardening of large diameter & heavy transmission gears & parts where high core hardness is required. It should be used in sealed quench furnaces. They exhibit short vapour phase & high quench severity. Hence the quenched parts in the bath are uniformly & rapidly cooled.
